I have been amazed with how hard year 1 have been working this week! In English we have been planning, writing and editing our own non-fiction texts about animals in the polar regions. The children cam up with some very creative headings and sub-headings and tried hard to use full sentences with the correct punctuation.
In maths we began learning about place value, a tricky concept, and the children use resources to show the tens and ones in different numbers. They got their heads around this so quickly and were able to use the resources confidently to recognise and represent different 2 digit numbers.
On Thursday we had a brilliant DT day where we planned, made and evaluated our very own sock puppets. The children had a great time and were super creative with their designs.
