"Valuing Potential, Creating Opportunities"

We have had another wonderful week in year 1 and the children are really settling into life as a year 1 pupil.

In maths we have been exploring the concept of number and discussing what numbers mean and different ways to represent them. We have used lots of different resources to investigate this.

In English we have been looking at books that use repeated phrases and discussing how this makes the story more memorable and interesting. We even wrote our own new page for the story ‘Handa’s Hen’ using the repeated phrases.

In science we have been learning about our five senses. Children used their senses in different activities, they especially enjoyed comparing what it was like to touch the sand and the slime. Some children weren’t huge fans of the smell of cinnamon though!

Year one have really enjoyed our nature themed circle times this weeks. Some children brought in acorns and conkers for us to explore and we also looked closely at sunflowers.
